Kerry Volunteer Centre welcomes European Year Of Volunteer 2011

Kerry Volunteer Centre is delighted to announce that the European Commission has agreed to dedicate  2011 as the European Year of Volunteering. The Volunteer Centre is dedicated to enabling, supporting, promoting and developing volunteering in Kerry and is delighted the Europe has decided to dedicate a full calander year the European Year of Volunteering to celebrate volunteers and the contribution Volunteering makes to our society. Kerry Volunteer Centre has for the previous years being actively campaigning for the recognition of volunteering and had canvassed MEP to support the making of 2011 the year of Volunteering.
Kerry Volunteer Centre Ltd  welcomes the European Commission decision to entrust voluntary organisations to run the competition to choose the official logo and slogan for the upcoming European Year of Volunteering 2011. The Volunteer Centre believes that this is a unique opportunity to engage all citizens, volunteers, and voluntary organisations to shape the look and  identity of the European Year of the Volunteer 2011.  The winning design will be used throughout the EU during the EYV 2011.
 An alliance of 21 European networks has launched the “Let’s Slogo!” competition on www.eyv2011.eu to call for proposals for logos and slogans. This website is available in 22 EU languages. 20 proposals for logos and 20 proposals for slogans will be pre-selected and sent to an official jury organised by the European Commission in November 2009. Proposals for logos and slogans can be sent until 18 September 2009. The general public as can register on line to join the jury composed of volunteers active in the 21 networks will be able to vote on this website for the best proposals.
 Kerry Volunteer Centre i keen to highlight that this is the first time ever in the history of Europe that citizens can shape the visual identity of a European Year – a great opportunity to be seized by participating in the competition. The finalists of the competition will be invited to Brussels on 16 December 2009 where the winner will be announced.The European Commission has committed itself to use the winning proposals for the European Year’s communication activities.
